Measurement at the Time of Need

Modern day learners control their own learning destiny.  They don't wait for learning to come to them, they go to the learning.  In fact, 56% of learners consume learning at their point of need.  These modern learners use mobile technologies, often outside of the office, to retrieve short and relevant content to apply to their jobs in their moment of need.

Measurement is vital to these learning modalities.  Often, this learning is not tracked in traditional tools like a learning management system (LMS).  Further, early on in the use of this type of learning, measuring activity and duration is important to understanding usage, adoption and early influencers.  Finally, being able to gather feedback when learners access short bits of learning in their time of need should also be concise, relevant and accessible.

In the end, deploying new tools and technologies opens new doors to learners.  However, learning at the point of need should be complemented by measurement at the point of need so that the learning can be properly evaluated for adoption, quality and impact.
